Softanza
One stop, honestly measured

Compared with the platforms you know

Thirty domains, five platforms: where Softanza is deep, where it is solid, where it trails, and the two places it is absent. Then what a single install means, and where the platform goes next.

Compared with the platforms you know

Softanza is meant to stand beside .NET, Python with its ecosystem, the Wolfram stack and the JVM, not beside a single library. The matrix below comes from the platform's own compass. Its ratings of the others are deliberately generous to them, and the two lanes where Softanza is absent are shown in their colour.

Source: the Softanza compass, section "Functional coverage against the platforms", read from the main branch on 2026-09-17; the file behind this table is data/coverage.json(opens in a new tab). "Deep" means first-class, often best in its category; "Solid" fully usable; "Partial" present but a subset or young; "Absent" not covered, or refused by design.

Where they lead

Nine of the thirty rows are rows where Softanza is partial or absent. For each, here are the platforms that are deep there, said in words and not left to a colour.

  • Symbolic mathematics Softanza: absent Where they lead: Wolfram.
  • Statistics & modeling Softanza: partial Where they lead: Python, Wolfram.
  • Neural / machine learning Softanza: partial Where they lead: Python.
  • GUI / desktop Softanza: partial Where they lead: .NET, Wolfram, JVM.
  • Databases & SQL Softanza: partial Where they lead: .NET, Python, JVM.
  • Internationalization & Unicode Softanza: partial Where they lead: .NET, JVM.
  • Date, time & calendars Softanza: partial Where they lead: .NET, JVM.
  • Interop / FFI / plugins Softanza: partial Where they lead: .NET, Python. And when you need Python itself.
  • Package / build / deploy Softanza: absent Where they lead: .NET, Python, JVM.

How the comparison is made

The record of Softanza's own documents holds sixty-four comparison grids against the field, and a grid alone is a brochure's shape: in those grids Softanza's column carries almost only ticks and the others' columns a great many crosses. So the site compares by five rules, and holds itself to them wherever it names another tool.

  1. Cite or do not publish. Every claim about another tool cites its documentation or a run, with a date.
  2. Both sides run. A code pair runs both sides, in named release builds, each in its own idiom. The code is the page that does.
  3. Losses beside wins. A loss is published with the win, in the same block and the same type.
  4. Generous to the others. Ratings of the others are generous and say so.
  5. No number without its method.

designed The comparison is made at the height of the platform on this page and at the height of a feature on the code page. A comparison at the height of each area of the Atlas, with the field's answer, Softanza's, and where the field leads, waits on a register of comparisons that the library does not hold as data yet.

The Softanza way One stop. To cover these thirty rows in Python you assemble numpy, pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn, nltk, cryptography, geopandas and a neural framework, each with its own release calendar and its own idea of a string. Here they are one engine, one vocabulary, one set of laws, and one Atlas that says plainly where the platform is still behind.

One folder, copied

There is no installer and no package registry. The repository is one folder; the engine ships as compiled libraries for Windows, and a Linux build of most of its modules is under way. A script placed in the library's folder loads everything with one line.

git clone https://github.com/mayouni/stzlib.git
cd stzlib/libraries/stzlib

The direction, stated as a direction: a Haro program compiled to one static binary that carries the engine with it. Today the platform runs from its folder with the runtime the repository names. The Start page walks through it in one hour.

Where the platform goes next

The Atlas lists thirty-six "Emerging" lanes beside its hundred and one "Strong" ones, and the Vision page places the platform inside the whole estate: the machine beneath it, the language above it, the intelligence layer to come. A platform that shows its gaps is believed on its strengths.
