Numeric & optimization

255 functions in 36 classes, grouped by what they do, each with the explanation the library gives of itself.

The story of this area, for a general reader: what a crafter does with it, an example run and its rated lanes, is on its Platform page.

Testing and checking

    o1 = new stzNumber(12)

    #--> 0
    composed from the signature, run for this page
  • IsChar checking if the number is a char in stzNumber

  • IsEven TRUE if the number is even. in stzNumber
    # a number

    ? Q(2).IsEven()
    # positive
    ? Q(2).IsPositive()

  • IsItem Always TRUE: a number can be a list item. in stzNumber

    #--> 0
    composed from the signature, run for this page · written IsAList() in the library today: the host language already holds IsList(), and Haro removes the detour
  • IsExact Numeric surprise is almost always about a frame the caller could not see: a rounding, a binary-float representation, a division that does not terminate. So the number carries that fact rather than making you deduce it -- the same habit as the natural layer's evidential register. in stzNumber
    oT = StzNumberQ("1")
    oT.Divide("3")

  • FindCol `def`, not `func`. Inside a class body `func` does not define a method, so FindCol was unreachable and FindCols -- its only caller -- raised R14. It was the sole `func` among 95 definitions here; FindRow, FindRows and FindCols all use `def`. in stzMatrix

  • Search The distance is SQUARED Euclidean over the stored vectors -- squared because the square root changes nothing about the ordering and costs a call per candidate. In :Cosine mode the vectors are unit-length, so the distance is 2 - 2*cos and CosineSimilarityTo() reads it back as a cosine. in stzVectorIndex
  • SearchExact The exact answer by full scan -- O(n) and the ground truth. Use it on a small corpus, or to measure what the approximate path is missing. in stzVectorIndex
  • SearchWithBudget The same, with the candidate budget stated. Bigger budget, better recall, more work. 0 asks for the default. in stzVectorIndex

Removing

  • RemoveSign Drop the sign from the number (mutating). in stzNumber
  • RemoveZeros both ends: "007.500" -> "7.5" in stzNumber
  • RemoveZerosFromLeft They are now expressed directly on the digits. A single leading zero before the point is kept. in stzNumber

    composed example
    o1 = new stzNumber(12)
    ? o1.ToOctalFormWithoutPrefix()
    #--> 14
    composed from the signature, run for this page
  • ToBinaryFormWithoutPrefix Variant that strips the "0b" prefix from the binary form, for callers that just want the raw bit-string. in stzNumber
    composed example
    o1 = new stzNumber(12)
    ? o1.ToBinaryFormWithoutPrefix()
    #--> 1100

  • ToSections Turn the numbers (positions) into [start, end] sections. in stzListOfNumbers
    composed example
    o1 = new stzListOfNumbers([ 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 ])
    ? @@( o1.ToSections() )
    #--> [ [ 1, 4 ], [ 5, 8 ], [ 9, 15 ], [ 16, 16 ], [ 17, 23 ], [ 24, 42 ] ]

  • ToLean one .lean file: Mathlib, the lesson, every theorem; names made unique by position in stzMathClaimSet
    composed example
    o1 = new stzMathClaimSet("a tampered lesson")
    ? o1.ToLean()
    #--> -- a tampered lesson: 0 claim(s) emitted by stzMathClaimSet (plane stzlib-math, M6)
    #--> -- check with: lake env lean <this file> inside a Lake project holding Mathlib
    #--> import Mathlib

Showing, drawing and formatting

  • Format Format the number with the default options (mutating). in stzNumber
    composed example
    o1 = new stzNumber(12)
    ? o1.Format()
    #--> +12
    composed from the signature, run for this page
  • DrawLiveOn THE LIVE CURVE DRAWN INTO A CANVAS, cleared first: the overlay the window draws over the settled picture. Keeps what it cost. in stzMathMotion

Reading and writing

  • ExportTo the export: a storyboard driven by the same acts ------------------------ EVERY STATE A FRAME. The storyboard takes its own copy of the picture from where it stands now, replays each state's acts on that copy through its own Act (so the frame it closes is the picture AFTER the acts), binds each fact to be computed on that frame, writes the frame as a PNG in the folio, and the narration beside them. A :Function motion settles per state and hands each settled figure in as a frame; its parameters are put back afterwards, so the export leaves the motion where it found it in both cases. in stzMathMotion

Walking and applying

  • ApplyFormat Apply the default number format (mutating). in stzNumber
    composed example
    o1 = new stzNumber(12)
    ? o1.ApplyFormat()
    #--> +12
    composed from the signature, run for this page
  • ApplyLocale Locale application (unsupported in this version: raises). in stzNumber
  • EachDividedWithW Add alternatives The numbers divided by n where the W condition holds, as a copy. in stzListOfNumbers
  • EachMultipliedWithW The numbers multiplied by n where the W condition holds, as a copy. in stzListOfNumbers
  • Apply THE LIVE PASS: the acts of one state, on the motion's own picture. States are steps, so state n is reached from state n-1; a caller that jumps is asking for the acts of n from wherever the picture stands, which is what it gets and what Applied() then says. in stzMathMotion
  • RunCount the polylines drawn: a piece longer than 64 samples is several runs in stzMathFigure
